Forensic Hypnosis is the technical term used to describe specific techniques employed on a person within the hypnotic state in order to elicit or establish facts or details about events that have occurred. The use of these techniques under hypnosis, when used in a legal or criminal case, falls under the heading of ‘forensic hypnosis’.
An example of this may be the victim of a hit and run accident. The whole incident is over in seconds and the victim is only able to remember the colour of the car. The use of Forensic Hypnosis techniques may help retrieve the make and the model of the vehicle, what the driver looked like, whether there were and passengers in the car and even help recall the registration number of the vehicle.
